Welcome to our March 19th Cards in Envy Card Challenge! We know how much card makers like to use patterned paper for their background and layers but this time we are challenging you to make a card with NO PATTERNED PAPER. None. Nada. You can use solid cardstock and cardstock that you have created your own pattern but if you do create your own pattern you must tell us in your blog how you made it. Otherwise your card may be deleted from the challenge. You will see by looking at our Designer's cards that you may think they have used patterned paper, but they have not and each designer shares briefly how they created the background for their card. If you want more details, click on the blog link by their name.
Here's our CIE Designers' No Patterned Paper cards for this challenge:
Annie, Pawsitive Thoughts by Annie
Used an Echo Park stencil, Distress Inks, and Perfect Pearls for balloon background.
Donna, Crafty Colonel
Cut 2 layers of the gear die and glued to background before applying the foil over the top and using a bone folder to make the relief show better. Then used alcohol inks to color the foil.
Kristie, The Best Things in Life are Pink
Used a stitched cover up die from Lil Inker Designs to add pattern and texture
to solid cardstock for the background.
Used Distress Oxide inks to color the background and then sprayed a stamp with water
and laid it on top and let it sit a few minutes.
Nancy, Nancy Grace Creations
Created this card with Distress Oxides and a stars and moon stencil from a hero arts kit. Used the stencil as a stamp by adding black soot to the stencil spritzing with water and placing it on the distressed background and pressing it for a minute. Next, used Space explorer stamp set well as written in the Stars from My Favourite things and the stitched star die from Lawn Fawn
Sandy (Challenge Host), Sandy Trefger Creative Designs
Used solid cardstock for the background layers. Stamped & colored flower image and spattered some ink on the flower's background layer.
Sherri, Sherri's Flip-Floppin' Blog
Made the background using Oxide inks and splashes of water on watercolor paper, then stamped the waves in Oxide inks and fussy cut around the waves before adding it to card.
Sherry, Bits of Cheer
Used Ranger Distress Oxide inks, water spritzing, stenciling, Washi tape and a few dots of Stickles. Also used Distress inks for the background of the Crafty Individuals stamp, with a coating of ModPodge.
Toni, Frankie Helps Craft
Stamped the cat image and paws to create the patterned background to match the main image on the card.
Used some ink on the sides, then added some mist once I had stamped the sentiment.. then misted the doily and added some stitching to it.
We'd love to see your NO PATTERNED PAPER cards. Please read over our challenge requirements and then share your card in the linky at the end of this post.
Here are a few reminders about our challenge requirements:

- Entry must be for the current theme.

Additional rules can be found under the Challenge Guidelines tab at the top under our blog header.
Our Designers will be voting on the cards after the challenge ends and the winners will be announced by Wednesday morning following the close of the challenge.. We will have one FIRST CLASS which is the card that receives the most votes from the Designers and considered the best overall card for the theme. The Designers will also pick one card as their personal favorite for an IN THE MAILBOX badge. That means we may have up to 10 In the Mailbox cards for a challenge. We decided to go with this fun method as each Designer has their own unique style and preference. Each chosen may grab one of our fun badges for their blog! The badges for the challenge will be in the winners post following the close of the challenge after all the Designer votes are in. The winners will also be announced on our Facebook Page, so come Like us so you'll know quickly if you are a winner.
