Cards in Envy Designers

Cards in Envy  Host & Designer, Sandy Trefger
I'm Sandy and I'm a Texan. Yep-- born, raised and have lived here all my life. However, I do not own a horse, live on a ranch nor wear cowboy boots. I also don't own any oil property. I love paper crafting,  scrapbooking, card making, photography and quilting! I work in the home office of my husband's construction business and often sneak away to my crafty room when all the "office" work is done! I'm Mom to three grown kids and Nana to five wonderful grandkids and have nine loveable cats, three inside and the rest  outside of the house plus a few feral kitties that stop by and visit (eat) now and then. I also love to teach my paper crafting designs at the LSS and in tutorials on my YouTube channel and Snapguide. I'm a Designer for Graphic 45 (2016) and have been on other design teams online.  If you'd like to drop by and say hello, you can find me at Sandy Trefger Creative Designs. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at:  cardenvydt{at}gmail{dot}com.

Cards in Envy Designer, Donna Nuce
I started scrapbooking when my daughter was 4 years old and fell in love with using papers, embellishments and photos to document my family’s story.  Eventually those leftover papers and embellishments worked their way into cards.  Then I discovered stamping!  After I retired I had way more time to paint and craft.  I began to look for an outlet for my cards.  I discovered Operation Write Home, an organization that was devoted to making blank cards for our military to write home on.  That was a way for me to still support my military comrades and use my creativity for good.  I started my blog to showcase my cards and participate in challenges.  I am on the design team for the House of Cards Challenge blog, CASE-ing Christmas Challenge blog, and the monthly blog hop team for Club Scrap.  I am an alumni of the Inspired by Stamping design team.  In addition to scrapbooking and card making I also paint watercolors. I have a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Northern Colorado which didn't get much use until I retired from the military.  We live in the Denver, Colorado area.  My husband and I have been married for 33 years and we have a beautiful 25 year old daughter who was recently married.  We have a Weimeraner named Ghost we rescued from the pound.  He is seventh in a long line of Weimeraners who have lived with us.  You can find Donna at her blog The Crafty Colonel.

Cards in Envy Designer, Kristie Marcotte

Hello, I'm Kristie and I live in Washington state with my family. I am blessed to be married to my best friend and we have a teenage son and school-aged daughter. I am a stay-at-home mom and absolutely love it. Our family loves to go hiking and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest area. I am a hobbyist photographer and enjoy taking pictures of my kiddos and our hiking adventures. Scrapbooking seems to go right along with photography, and I use the Project Life system to help stay current. Card-making is a love I share with my daughter. We have a craft room and often create together. I'm also a huge fan of using 6x6 paper pads for cards and created the 6x6 Paper Pad Tutorial. You can find my tutorial and card creations on my YouTube channel and on my blog, The Best Things in Life are Pink.

Cards in Envy Designer, Lisa Moen
Hello! My name is Lisa and my husband, Greg and I live in central Wisconsin  with our 2 children, Sierra 15 1/2 and Austin, 13. Having 2 teenagers makes life interesting ;). We also have a 7 year old very rambuncious yellow lab, Bender, who still thinks he's a puppy. These 4 are the subjects of most of my layouts.  I have been scrapping since I was pregnant with Sierra, so a little over 16 years. In the last 3 or 4 years, I discovered card making and haven't bought a card since. I even make all my Christmas cards (about 45). The best part of this wonderful paper crafting hobby are the people I have met along the way.  I have been a SAHM mom since November and have been really enjoying it! More scrappy time:)  Besides playing with paper, I enjoy watching my kids in sports, gardening, camping and 4 wheeling.   I would love to see you at my blog Lisa's Scrappy Hideaway.

Cards in Envy Designer, Sherri Thacker
Hello from North Carolina. My name is Sherri Thacker and I have been married to my wonderful hubby for 26 years. We have 2 great kids (they’re still “kids” to me), ages 25 and 22. It seems odd to be “empty nesters” after years of running them to soccer games, gymnastics, cheerleading, girl scouts, etc.  I’ve been stamping since 2002 and I find myself stamping a little bit each day. My favorite way to color would be water-coloring (with my Tombow markers or my Jane Davenport watercolor paints) and I find it so relaxing. In my spare time, I also love to read and I read several books a week. I would love it if you would visit my blog at http://sherri-iloveflipflops.blogspot.com/

Cards in Envy Designer, Sherry Hickey
I was born and raised in the city of Washington, DC, one of eight children. I now live just across the Potomac River in Arlington, Virginia. My husband and I have one child, a grown son. He and his lovely wife have a nine month-old baby boy and I dearly love being his grandma! For as long as I can remember, I have loved to draw. I have taken art classes here and there over the years including drawing, pastel, watercolor and oil.  After high school, I worked for the government for 35 years, 31 of them as a staffer at the U.S. Congress in DC.  I attended community college at night. After I retired, I achieved my goal of finishing my bachelor’s degree through an adult degree program at Vermont College.  I studied the history of children’s literature and illustration. In 2010, I wrote and illustrated my first children’s book, “Card Auntie’s Wonderful Workshop”. I published my second picture book, “Chloe the Shoe Cat”, in 2014! As I was looking for ways to market my “Card Auntie’s Wonderful Workshop” book, which happens to be the story of a card maker, I heard about Operation Write Home. I was so impressed by their web site, and I remember thinking “I could do that!” I can’t believe that was five years ago and I’ve been making cards for OWH ever since. OWH opened my eyes to the world of card making and paper crafting!  I love  vintage, paper piecing and coloring. I’m also thankful for all the great people I’ve met both in person and in cyberspace and can’t wait to work with the Cards In Envy Design Team. Thanks for having me!  Sherry blogs at Bits of Cheer, stop by and visit!

Honorary Cards in Envy Designer, Denise Gray

The Cards in Envy challenge and concept was all Denise's idea and she along with Sandy, set up this blog and started the challenges.  Later, Denise had to step down as a Co-Hostess but remained as a designer.  In 2014 she made the decision to no longer design for Cards in Envy due to work, her family and her other challenge Digi Haven.  Sadly, on July 1st, 2014 Denise was diagnosed with cancer and decided to close her challenge blog Digi Haven and no longer post to her personal blog.  We wish her well with her treatments and will always consider her one of us and welcome her and her fabulous card designs whenever she feels like sharing them with us.

On February 1, 2016, Denise lost her battle with cancer and earned her angel wings.  We know she must be up in heaven planning a card challenge.  We, here and Cards in Envy, as well as all her other crafting friends around the world miss her so much.

Below is what Denise shared about herself as a Designer and Co-Host for Cards in Envy:

Hello, my name is Denise. I'm a Wife and Mom to a handsome, intelligent 20 yr. old son, a gorgeous and SpECtaCuLaR 17 yr. old daughter and a Maltese furbaby named Toby who is the absolute love of all our lives. I'm also a Visiting Angel, an Alzheimer's Educator, an Administrative Assistant, a Manager, a Retired CTMH Consultant, an Occasional Scrapbooker and a Passionate Cardmaker. My creative area is in my basement and lovingly referred to as the "Craft Cave". I no longer scrapbook for myself but will for others. I relax by making handcrafted cards. I don't put out the trash, that's what I have a husband for.  I don't do dishes, that's what the kids and dishwasher's for and I don't match socks .... so we all wear mismatched socks on purpose and have actually started a new fad among family,  friends and coworkers ... children and adults alike.  My favorite quote:  “We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we have no other choice than to make them a friend." ~Author unknown.
