~Sandy and the Cards in Envy Designers

Hello and welcome to a new challenge here on Cards in Envy!  This time we have another Sketch challenge for you.  The sketches for our challenges have all been created by one of our Designers, Denise, but she's had to cut back on some of her duties due to her job and other challenges so this will be our last sketch challenge.  Starting in August all of our challenges will be themed but if you love sketches, I will be posting sketches on our Cards in Envy Facebook page now and then so be sure to go like us so you'll see the sketches and other fun stuff on your newsfeed.

I also want to share some Cards in Envy Designer changes.  First, Andrea had to leave us early because of her health and needing to spend more time with family and to take better care of herself.  We will miss her!  Also, July is the last month for Cissy, Lisa B. and Katie.  Their 6 month term is finished the end of July and they have each decided they need to focus on other things for now.  We will miss them too! But that brings us to three new Designers who have joined us and while officially they were to start in August, I just couldn't wait and went ahead and brought them on board now.  You've already seen their work in challenges and as June Guest Designers.  Please welcome Wendi, Debbie and Lisa M. to Cards in Envy!  I encourage you to visit each of our Designers' blogs and leave them some comment love.  And now on with their fabulous card creations following Sketch #6.  All of the cards are A2 size (4.25" x 5.5") and will fit in an envelope with regular first class postage!

And now it is your turn to create a card following Denise's Sketch #6.

The challenge starts today, Monday, July 1st  at 12:00 a.m. Central Time and ends July 14th at 11:55 p.m. Central Time.  After the challenge ends,  the Designers will pick one card  as the "First Class" Winner for best all around card and three or more cards will be chosen as "In the Mailbox" for runners up.  All "winners' will be awarded one of our new Cards in Envy badges to proudly display on their own blog.

Please create and share  A2 (4.25" x 5.5") cards that fit  in an envelope with no lumpy bumpy flowers, buttons or embellishments.

~Sandy and the Cards in Envy Designers

Hello and welcome to our  June 17th Themed Challenge!  We're going to be sewing or rather stitching (real or faux) on our cards for this two week challenge!  There are so many creative ways to add "stitches" to your cards by stitching on the paper (zig-zags or straight), stitching designs or other creative ways.  We can't wait to see what you have STITCHED UP for us!   Please create and share  A2 (4.25" x 5.5") cards that fit  in an envelope with no lumpy bumpy flowers, buttons or embellishments.

The challenge starts today, Monday, June 17th  and runs until June 30th.  The Designers will pick one card  as the "First Class" Winner for best all around card and three or more cards will be chosen as "In the Mailbox" for runners up.  All "winners' will be awarded one of our new Cards in Envy badges to proudly display on their own blog.

And now some inspiring cards by our Designers featuring cards that have been STITCHED UP!  Feel free to click on each designer's blog link for more details about their card creation.  We also have three guest designers who will be creating cards with us for June and July and will then design full time for Cards in Envy starting in August.  We are pretty excited to have them here and hope you will give them a very warm welcome to Cards in Envy!

Come find us on Facebook and like our page!  We have challenge sneak peeks, weekly card quotes/sentiments and tips/discussions. Plus you can share your photos of cards you create that fit in an "Envy!"  We'd love to have you join us!

Hello and welcome to another challenge at Cards in Envy!  This time we challenge you to use this sketch by one of our Designers, Denise Gray. Please create an A2 (4.25" x 5.5") card that fits in an envelope with no lumpy bumpy flowers, buttons or embellishments.  For more details about the cards we want for our challenges, please check out our Challenge Guidelines.

Now it's your turn to inspire us!  We are so happy when you share your fabulous card creations with us at Cards in Envy!  We wish EVERYONE could be a winner but part of the fun in a challenge is the competition AND the recognition!  Our challenge focuses on the recognition rather than prizes and that is why you see no sponsors or prizes for our challenges.  We now have two new challenge recognition badges for the winners of our challenges!
  • FIRST CLASS!  There will be only ONE person bestowed this honor which represents the Designer's Top Pick for Best Over All Card.
  • IN THE MAILBOX!  There will be THREE or more  awarded this badge as the Designer's Favorites or Runners Up to the First Class Winner.
So....will you be First Class?  Or In The Mailbox?  We can't wait to find out!

One last thing, you may have noticed it looks a little bit different here at Cards in Envy--new header, new background, new challenge badge, new winner badges.  That's because Denise, one of our Co-Hosts, has had to step down as a challenge host (don't worry, she's still designing for us) and has handed the reins over to me.  I decided that along with the change over to a single host that I would also change the look of the blog.  I hope you like it and I look forward to leading you and my fabulous designers in some fun challenges.  Thank you for joining us here at Cards in Envy!

~Sandy

P.S. We're on Facebook! Come find us  at "Cards in Envy" and like our page!  We have challenge sneak peeks, weekly card quotes/sentiments and tips/discussions. Plus you can share your photos of cards you create that fit in and "Envy!"  We'd love to have you join us!

~Sandy and the Cards in Envy Deisgners

Hello and welcome to our  May 20th  Themed Challenge!  This time we'd like to see cards that you used a technique to Make Your Own Background!  What this means is....share cards in which you have taken a white or neutral color card base or paper and actually created your background by stamping, embossing, inking, paper piecing or  some other fun technique to make your own background.  Confused? I hope not, if you have ANY questions you can send me an email at strefger{at}gmail{dot}com. And please share what technique you used to make your background as we'd all love to know!

Remember,  Cards in Envy is for cards that fit into a regular first class postage envelope.  The most common size being the A2 (5.5 inch x 4.25 inch) OR a square card ( 5 inch x 5 inch or SMALLER).  And please, no lumpy bumpy embellishments.  A good rule of thumb is--only one layer of foam tape, no buttons on foam tape, flatter flowers (paper flowers are good), no rosettes, no super thick buttons or brads, etc.  If all layers and embellishments together on your card are thicker than 1/4 inch then it's not a card for Cards in Envy.

The challenge starts today, Monday, May 20th and runs until June 2nd.  The Designers will pick one card  as the "First Class" Winner for best all around card and three or more cards will be chosen as "In the Mailbox" for runners up.  All "winners' will be awarded one of our new Cards in Envy badges to proudly display on their own blog.

And now some inspiring cards by our Design Team featuring some fun techniques to Make Your Own Background.

All design team cards are A2 size unless noted otherwise.

Card with ribbon folded easily fits in A2 envelope for one first class postage stamp!

Lisa (Lisa's Creative Niche)

the background with the bubble wrap to get the dotted/bubble look.

Share with  us your card and tell us your fabulous technique that you used to Make Your Own Background!
